The Bible tells us in Proverbs 29:7 “When the godly are in authority the people rejoice, but when the wicked are in power, they groan.”

I don’t think that there is any question that we believers in Christ are groaning about our leadership today. In just 14 short months we’ve witnessed a total deterioration of all the good that was established under the privious administration. A once secure border is now wide open allowing drugs, gangs and child traffickers to pour into our country. Our once energy dominance has been wiped away. Our standing on the world stage that was once respected and feared is gone. All manner of crime has increased exponentially. A once thriving economy is now in jeopardy of a recession. Inflation is the highest in over 40 years. Transgenderism and CRT is infiltrating our public schools. I could go on, but sufficive to say the righteous are suffering as never before in this great country.

It begs the question, if God is in control why is this happening? I would submit to you that a great deal of it is because we, as a nation, have turned our back on God. And he is judging us.

God permitted King Nebuchadnezzar to rule in order to punish Judah for their idolatry. See II Kings 20:17-18. God used the nation of Assyria to punish Israel. “I am sending Assyria against a godless nation.” Is 10:6 (a)

It very well may be that the incompetent morally corrupt leadership we currently have is a sign of God’s judgement against an America who’s turned her back on God and righteousness.

To  exacerbate things, I believe that the church in America bears a great deal of culpability. As a whole, the church here as been lukewarm and ineffectual at best. Her leaders are no longer preaching against sin and warning that a righteous God demands a righteous people. I personally have witnessed a flagrantly homosexual person permitted to lead the worship service. This is not okay!  In addition, there is seldom a rebuke for some members in the church who aren’t married that are living together. Our current culture should not dictate our morals.

It’s high time for us to collectively and individually to humble ourselves and repent. “Truly, in times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent.” Acts 17:30

If we don’t like our present leadership and the wayward direction of our country, we need to repent and get serious with God!

When the wicked rule, it’s time for God’s people to get right with the Lord of Glory and ask him to heal our land.
