Just because one is “saved” that doesn’t mean we don’t struggle with the flesh and fleshly desires. Even the Apostle Paul said, “to sin is ever present with me.” These desires “war against the Spirit.”
You would be amazed to find out how many Christians struggle with pronogaphy. Yet, this, like homosexuality, is seldom mentioned from the pulpit.
There are several ways that Church leaders deal with it. Firstly, they don’t deal with it at all. Secondly, they know it’s going on, but ignore it and pretend like it isn’t. Thirdly, they know it’s going on but they accept it. They adopt society’s acceptance. After all, we don’t want to offend anyone.
All those ways above are unacceptable. We must never trivialize what the Bible calls sin. The Bible is clear on the matter
“Do not have sexual relations with a man as as one does with a woman. That is detestable.” Lev 18:22.
“And the men, instead of having relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved. Rom 1:27. Further, we find that this was the primary sin that God judged by destroying Sodom and Gomorrah.
There are Christians in the church who have same sex attraction but don’t act upon it because they know it’s wrong. And while this is commendable, they end up suffering in silence instead of seeking help. They wouldn’t think of letting their parents, siblings or friends know in fear of rejection. Consequently, they struggle alone. And that’s very sad. They’re trapped in bondage. God doesn’t want it to be this way. He loves them and wants them to be free. However, the church is ill equipped to deal and minister to this democratic in the church. And that ought not to be. So they hide it from everyone. However the signs are there. I’ve seen it for myself. The Spirit has shown me that certain Christians struggle with it. I could sight examples but I won’t for the sake of time. However, I would advise that any person struggling with same sex attraction should seek help. It’s not any different from any other sin such as alcoholism, pornography addiction, idolatry, adultery, and so on.
If you are caught up in homosexuality, or same sex attraction, you can be free. Come to the savior. It’s not news to Him. He sees and knows all. He wants you to be free. “He who the Son sets free is free indeed.” Don’t hide any longer in the shadows. Don’t deny the problem. Get help from a trusted spiritual leader. You can be healed and set free. Your deliverance can be instantaneous, or it may be a process. Either way God is there to help you overcome.
