What we have going on right now in Washington DC is nothing short of a clown show. As Trump has said, “Our enemies don’t fear us, and our friends don’t trust us.” It’s a crisis of toxic leadership. As the leaders go, so too the rest of the nation.

I’m going to endeavor to give you my breakdown of three components of our toxic leadership today: executive, judicial, and ecumenical.

Executive Leadership.

Are there any fair minded, decent people across America who aren’t grieved because of our leadership today? Our leaders celebrate gay pride, transgenderism, promote sexual perversity in our public school system, and persecute their political enemies. Yet, they themselves are lawbreakers and unwilling to punish the wicked. They’re oppressors who rule by executive fiat and fear. They have no love for the land they rule over. Their minds are warped; their thinking makes no sense. Hence, justice is perverted.  And, consequently, we groan.  Our spirits are vexed within us.

At the top, President Joseph R. Biden. A cognitively and physically challenged, feeble, weak, curmudgeon. Under his abysmal leadership we, as Americans, have all suffered.  Additionally, he has totally incompetent administration.  He put woke, ultra-liberal people in various positions of leadership in his cabinet. If they checked the equity, diversity, and inclusion box, they’re in. For example, our Vice President Harris. The woman isn’t qualified to be a dog catcher, much less the V.P. of the greatest nation on the planet! Go online and watch a few of her speeches. It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad. Now Instead of a nation recognized for its strength and leadership, we’ve become the laughingstock of the world. While nations such as China, North Korea and Russia are training their young men and women for battle, we’re training ours about the evils of White Supremacy, the use of proper pronouns, Transgenderism, and danger of climate change.

There’s a saying, “Weak men create hard times.” Just look at what happened since the Biden administration took over; a botched Afghanistan withdrawal, Russia attacks Ukraine, China is threatening Tiwan, “Rocket Man” is in North Korea is flexing his nuclear muscle, and most recently an unprovoked attack by Hamas upon Israel.  People, do you see that we are on the cusp of WW III?  Arguably, none of this would have happened if Trump was still president.  There were NO wars in the four years of the Trump administration. Trump believed as Reagan did, “peace through strength.”  It’s scary to think of what else may happen in the year and a half left with this current administration. God help us!

Sadly, I believe that we have the leadership that we deserve. Furthermore, I believe that this is partly the judgment of God. The other part is an outworking of the “sow and reap” principle. Now I’m not going to try and persuade you, cajole you, or convince you. I just want to point out some scriptures and let you draw your own conclusion.

“When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan.” Prov 29:2 NLT

“And I will make mere boys their leaders, And mischievous children will rule over them, And the people will be oppressed, Each one by another, and each one by his neighbor; The youth will assault the elder, And the contemptible person will assault the one honored.” Is 3:4-5 NASB

Note, this is not referring to the chronological age of these leaders. This was in reference to a time of chaos, when the people chose the infantile, immature, and the weak willed to rule over them.

In the NKJV version verse 5 in part reads, “the people will be oppressed”. Oppressed here means, subject to harsh authoritarian treatment. Do you feel like the government is slowly but surely taking away your freedoms? There’s more taxes, laws, regulations, and rules than ever before. Yet, it’s the criminals and dirty politicians who break these laws with impunity. Isn’t this a form of oppression?

Further, “Childish leaders oppress my people, and women rule over them. O my people, your leaders mislead you; they send you down the wrong road.” Is 3:12 NLT

Now I’m not trying to be misogynistic here, but I want to point out, scripturally speaking, women ruling of men is contrary to God’s design. God set the order of authority or headship if you will, after the Fall. (I Cor 11:3, Eph 5:21-23, Timothy 2:12, Gen3:16) The inference in Isaiah 3:12 is that woman ruling over men is dysfunctional and sign of judgement.

Moreover, our leaders are leading us down the wrong road. But don’t take my word for it. Here’s what the liberal NBC News wrote, “71% of Americans saying the country is headed in the wrong direction is the eighth time in the last nine of NBC News surveys dating back to Oct. 2021 when the wrong track has been above 70%. And the one exception was in Sept. 2022, when it was 68%. We have never before seen this level of sustained pessimism in the 30-year-plus history of the poll” (Jan. 30, 2023, By Chuck Todd, Mark Murray, Ben Kamisar, Bridget Bowman, and Alexandra Marquez.) On a side note, Chuck Todd is about as liberal as they come.

Notice this judgement against Judea and Jerusalem. “The brave man and the warrior [He is also removing], The judge and the prophet, The diviner and the elder,” Is 3:2 AMP In other words, not only was God removing strong, moral, and virtuous men, he was removing the spiritual leaders who know the mind of the Lord and that could rightly discern the times. Thank God, for us, it appears that he left a few that will not defile themselves nor bow to the idols of our present culture.

I postulate that these verses are what’s happening now here in America. We used to have strong, principled, moral, courageous leaders. Leaders that would, and did, die for the principles that this country was founded upon. Now we have what is tantamount to a clown show. For example, The Assistant Secretary of Health, “Doctor” Richard Levine, now Rachel Levine. Once the married father of two children is now promoting transgenderism and gender mutilation. Should we take health care advice from that?  Then if you live in Pennsylvania, you have Senator John Fetterman. A half brain-dead slob who resembles Uncle Fester from The Adam’s Family.  He thinks it’s acceptable to don a hoodie, gym shorts, and sandals in the United States Senate. It’ contemptible!

Judicial leadership

“Our courts oppose the righteous, and justice is nowhere to be found. Truth stumbles in the streets, and honesty has been outlawed. Yes, truth is gone, and anyone who renounces evil is attacked. The LORD looked and was displeased to find there was no justice.” Is 59:14-15 NLT

You saw who Biden nominated to the highest court of the land, Ketanji Brown Jackson. She can’t even define what a woman is and now she’s going to judge the rest of us? Does anyone see the hypocrisy here? Biden vowed to nominate a African-American “female”.

We’ve all seen the unprecedented attacks on former President Donald Trump by the DOJ and everyone that was in his cabinet or supported him. Notice this recent headline from Newsweek Magazine, by William M. Arkin dated 10/04/23, “Exclusive: Donald Trump Followers Targeted by FBI as 2024 Election Nears.”  As president Trump has said, “they’re not after me, they’re going after you. I’m just standing in the way.”  Look, don’t misunderstand, I’m not saying that any politician is going to be our savior. There’s only one Savior, and that is The Lord Jesus Christ. But what I am saying is, that God always has his man. Like Isaiah, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Is 6:8 NIV. Isaiah was God’s man. David was God’s man. Gideon was God’s man. Daniel was God’s man. Paul was God’s man.  And I believe, as flawed as he is, Donald J. Trump is God’s man for such a time as this.

Let me ask you, how did we get here? How did it happen so quickly? Why weren’t we warned? Why didn’t anyone play Reveille for us? “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” Matt 11:15

The Ecumenical Leadership

I would submit to you that a major problem is with our church leadership. Instead of teaching the full counsel of God (II Tim 3:16-17), most were preaching, and still are, sermons on how God can meet all our needs and sermons of improving one’s self-esteem. Sermons that keep self at the center and titillate the flesh. People like Joel Osteen. In my opinion, Joel is little more than a charismatic, motivational speaker that throws in a smidge of scripture into his messages to warrant an “evangelical” label. You don’t pack out Houston’s Compaq Center with over 16, 800 people preaching holiness, sexual purity, the reality of Hell, the crucified life, godly living, and God’s righteous judgement.  Now, throw in the Prosperity Gospel preachers and the Social Gospel preachers and you have a trifecta. Simple put, our “itching ears” (see II Tim 4:3) only wanted to hear what we wanted to hear, and they made an enormous amount of cash in placating to our fleshly desires. Consequently, God gave us what we wanted. (see Jer 23:1-2)

Truly, we have a toxic leadership crisis today. In just two- and one-half years we went from being respected on the world stage to being a laughingstock. It’s a clown show! We went from a good economy to a bad economy. We went from a secure border to a wide-open border with criminals, drugs, and human traffickers pouring in. We went from being energy independent to being dependent on energy from countries who hate us. We went from a relatively safe country to one that resembles that of a 3rd world country. We went from a county blessed by God, to one that’s rife for the judgment of God.

Understand this, it’s God who rasies up one  leader and puts down another. (See Daniel 2:21) Some were for deliverance, such as in Judges, and some were for judgement, such as found in Kings. Want to take a wild guess which one Joe Biden is?

Can’t you feel the heart of David when he cried, “The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places how are the mighty fallen!” II Sam 1:19.  There is a crisis of our executive, judicial, and ecumenical leadership today. And it’s toxic. Pray, pray, for our country! Let us repent of our sins! And particularly now, pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
