Yes, I stole the title from the 1995 romance drama, but I thought it appropriate. We live in a hyper sensitive society today. It seems everyone is offended by someone or something. It’s to the point now where we really don’t have free speech anymore. The purveyors of our woke culture call the balls and strikes. Under the guise of Diversity Equity and Inclusion anything goes. For example if “Rodger” transitions to “Rhonda”, you had better refer to him by what he now identifies. If you don’t, you could be guilty of “misgendering”. There are people who’s sole purpose in life is to police social media and call out the offenders. Keep in mind that an “offender” is anyone they deem so. If you’re labeled as an offender, you could be doxed (the act of reveling someone’s personal information online. Publishing where you live, where you work, and what political party you’re affiliated with). You could lose your job, your reputation and become a social pariah. Make no mistake, the woke are after you.
You may be surprised to know those who identify themselves as “woke” are in the minority. In an article published by The Hill in July 2021, they found that one-third of voters polled said they identify as “woke”. Yet this minority wields great power in government, corporate America, our military, entertainment, sports and education.
In government I would site that the Supreme Court ruled that the “Civil Rights Act of 1964. The act prohibits discrimination on the bases of race, sex, or national origin, now grants gays and transgenders the same protection. Further, our government is constantly passing laws that would make some aspect of living out your faith illegal.
In corporate America most all of publicly traded companies have some sort of required DEI required training. Some of these training sessions warn against “discrimination” towards any protected class, and teach that we ALL have “unconscious bias.” They teach that white males are mostly the offenders and must be reformed.
In the military there is now required CRT and sensitivity training. They’re more concerned about being sensitive than they are about being combat ready. Most disturbing is that the Biden administration is permitting military members to take time off from their duties to obtain sex-change surgeries and given hormones. All at the tax payers expense, I might add. I know this to be a fact because we lived right next door to two active military “trans” women, or “trans” men,…I’m really not sure. I just know they were trans. Maybe I need to take class?
In entertainment they are flagrantly pushing LGBTQ agenda down our collective throat. Not even Disney or Marvel is exempt. Gay and transgender characters are common place. Even commercials tout gay men and women hugging and kissing as part of their advertisements. Most disturbing to me recently was a pharmaceutical company advertising a drug that can help straighten out a bent penis. I didn’t know that was a thing. I guess I should have been glad that they used carrots instead of the real thing in their illustration. Although with the way things are going it may only be a few years before that happens. In another commercial there was a product that you rub on your crotch area to decrease odor. The woman says, who identified herself as an OBGYN, “it’s proven to reduce odor 99% better than a shower alone!” What are we doing down there that we need this? Are we dogs? That was a rhetorical question.
In sports, there’s the transgender men competing in women’s sports controversy. And biological men allowed in women’s bathrooms and locker rooms.
In education, there’s the Drag Queen story hour at many of our public libraries geared towards pre-school and elementary age children. Additionally, there is CRT indoctrination, pornographic books in the school library, and the teaching of all kinds of sexual perversions and lifestyles. Kids are now questioning their biological gender. They’re putting these thoughts in their little minds. If the “professionals” agree that your kid has “gender dystopia”, they can opt to hide that from you; their parent. How about this? Jenny leaves your house and by the time her bus gets to school she’s Johnny. If they want, they can take your kid to one of a few very liberal states to get gender reassignment surgery. If you think I’m joking, look it up! The lunacy of it all! There’s common sense reasons why there are laws that prohibit children from buying cigarettes, alcohol, and voting.
If an adult engages in sex with a minor they can be charged, thrown in jail, and labeled a sex offender. But, certain school districts think it’s perfectly fine to basically rape a child’s mind. The ramifications of such are no less real than that of a physical rape.
I know that you may be thinking what’s all this have to do with the title and the subject? Okay, fair question. The point is, and yes, I realize if I have to tell you what my point is I’m not a very good writer. Whatever! The point is that it’s perfectly okay if all the above offends you. They don’t care. If you’re offended, you’re a homophobe, or a White Nationalist, or a racist, an insurrectionist, or worse yet, a Trump supporter, or part of that MAGA-proud boy crowed. You’re irredeemable! They don’t give a… fling about YOUR sensibilities! It appears that being offended is a one way street. If you stand up, speak out, or post on line what you believe, they’re coming after you! Let’s take a look at two recent examples.
In Georgia a 19 year old cop, Jacob Kersey, resigns after being suspended. What was his transgression? He posted on Facebook the Biblical view concerning marriage. He wrote, “God designed marriage. Marriage refers to Christ and the Church. That’s why there’s no such thing as homosexual marriage.” An anonymous complaint was made. He refused to remove the Facebook post, so he was put on administrative leave. He decided to resign because he was told that if he posted anything that others find offensive in the future he would be terminated.
Jacob got in trouble for something he did to offend the sensibilities of someone who obviously held an alternative view of marriage. To Hell with free speech! Apparently, Gay rights trump free speech. Hmm…thought that there was something about that in the First Amendment?
Did you know that you can also offend these degenerates by something you DON’T do? How about Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov (pictured above) refusal to wear a rainbow jersey during warm-ups for the teams “Pride Night”? Yep, you guessed it. It was LGBTQ “inclusion Tuesday”. And my, were they offended. He didn’t speak out against gays or anyone else. He didn’t post anything “offensive” against homosexuals. He simply chose not to wear a jersey celebrating gay pride. When confronted after the game, Provorov said, “I respect everybody’s choices. My choice is to stay true to myself an my religion.” When pressed further he just said, “that’s all I’m going to say.” They looked like they wanted to nail him to the wall.
As you can see, it really doesn’t make sense that you can offend the delicate sensibilities of those who choose to live their lives antithetical to Biblical values, but they can offend you with impunity.
I’m going to conclude by stating what I usually do at the end of most all my posts. And I will continue to do so long as God gives the strength and the wherewithal to write. Where is the Church? Where is her impact on our rouge pagan society? It would seem that many of her leaders are concerned more with having good church services and placating to our woke culture. After all, we don’t want to be offensive! Sense and sensibility? I don’t think so. It just doesn’t make sense to me.
