According to NPR, At the end of 2020, Chicago police reported more than 750 murders, a jump of more than 50% compared with 2019. By mid-December, Los Angeles saw a 30% increase over the previous year with 322 homicides. There were 437 homicides in New York City by Dec. 20, nearly 40% more than the previous year.”The stats so far for this year look even worse.
Back in time, not long after the fall of man, we have the record of the first murder. Mosses writes in Genesis 4:1, “One day Cain suggested to his brother, ‘Lets go into the fields .” And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel, and killed him.”
Now we’re not told how, or what Cain used to kill his brother, but we’re pretty sure it wasn’t an AR-15 or a S&W 9mm Luger. Which brings me to my point.
We’re trying to stop or greatly reduce, gun violence in America, but we’re focusing on the wrong thing. You see, it’s not the gun, the knife, the truck, the bat, the crow bar (the weapon of choice in about every Life Time movie), it’s a heart problem. “For out of the heart come evil thoughts and murder..” Matt 15:19(a).
You can confiscate every gun in the world and melt them all down, and you will still have murders. The more godless, corrupt and wicked this world becomes the more violence. In Gen 6:11 “Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence.” So God wiped out all the people except Noah and his family.
The president can try and get more “gun control” legislation passed all he wants, but short of an old fashioned Holy Ghost revival in the land, it’s not going to change a damn thing!
America doesn’t have a gun problem. America has a heart problem.
