When I worked at a regional bank there was one phrase one of H.R. Business partner would often say, “It’s not my mountain to die on”. The reference was that of, in other words if by your decision the action you’re about to take turns out to be wrong it’s you, not me that’ll be responsible for it. However, that was not completely true since I was running my decision by her.
A lot of us in our lives as Christians don’t always want to take responsibility for the actions we take. Much like the world we’d like to pin the negative consequences of our decisions on just about anyone but ourselves. We fail to realize that we’re free moral agents. God never takes our freedom of choice away from us. If we continue to make wrong choices God often will bring us back to a similar situation as before hoping we’ll make a better choice. If we keep making the wrong decision each time we greatly hinder our spiritual growth.
We can equate the life as a believer as climbing up a steep mountain. It seems the higher we go the harder it gets.
It’s up to us not to die on the way up.
