I wrote this article a few months back when we were in the middle of the pandemic.  Even though we’ve seem to come out on the other side, the process of assimilation continues.

One of my favorite shows on TV growing up was Star Trek.  I loved watching the crew of the USS Enterprise as they battled various alien life forms.  One in particular was called “The Borg”. They were cybernetic organisms linked in a hive mind called “the collective”. If they got a hold of you they would, in essence, take over your mind via “assimilation”.  Your independent way of thinking and reasoning would be completely wiped out. Hence, you would become part of them; the collective.  Their thoughts, will, and aspirations would now be your thoughts, will and aspirations. Their tag line was, “We are the Borg. We are many. Resistance is futile”. The tragedy was that their victims were never cognizant of the fact that they had been “assimilated”.

Let’s pause for a minute and define what “collectivism”  is. It’s, “the practice or principle  of giving a group priority over each individual in it.” In other words your individual rights are null and void. Endeavoring to apply critical thinking is not only discouraged, it’s viewed as rebellion.

Herein lies the point.   Similarly, many of us in America have been “assimilated” by the media, medical experts and our politicians into one way of thinking concerning the Covid-19 pandemic. They come out with their charts, graphs, statistics, plans and executive orders that they feel will help mitigate the problem and help “keep us safe”.  We should believe them, trust them, listen to them and by all means do what they say. After all, they’re the experts and leaders and we’re not.  Why bother doing a little research for yourself or ask questions that no one else seems to be asking?   Besides if you resist you’ll be labeled foolish, selfish or uncaring.  God forbid you should think for yourself, get the facts and make up your own mind on how you should respond. And that’s the basic problem. Many of us are like a bunch of carp at the dock that will swallow up anything that falls into the water. I’m sure you’ve seen them. They’re voracious fish with an insatiable appetite that don’t take the time to test the substance before devouring it.

The media has become something analogous of a state run TV in comunist countries.  They all say basically the same thing. They control what they want you to see, read and hear. They espouse certain facts and stats but not others. It never ceases to amaze me when I ask someone, “where on earth did you hear that?”  “Ah well it was on FaceBook.”  We’re either too busy or too lazy to do a little research on our own.  Let’s look at some news that you may not be getting.

  • An increase of 47% of those suffering from depression. “A Federal emergency hotline for people in emotional distress registered a more than 1,000% increase in April compared with the same last year.”
  • Domestic violence increased over 50% since being locked down.
  • Increase in the amount of those who have lost their business and livelihoods and may never recover. Over 30,000,000 filed for unemployment as of May 1, 2020. The unemployment rate is 14.7%, worst since the Great Depression. In other words, the “mitigation” dealt a death blow to the economy. And 40% of those making 40k and under lost their jobs permanently.
  • The increase of drug abuse, over doses, suicude and alcoholism. “As many as 75,000 Americans could die because of drug or alcohol misuse and suicide as a result of the coronavirus pandemic (sheltering in place).”
  • An increase in obesity due to overeating, stress, depression, and loneliness from being locked inside. The average person gains 1-9 lbs sheltering at home.
  • An increase of the use of pornography.
  • The dramatic decrease  of  our constitutional rights and freedoms under draconian executive mandates from overzealous, despot, nazi like, state governors. i.e. in MI you can’t visit family and friends or buy grass seed! IL governor told CNN that Illinois could be ordered to socially distance and wear masks indefinitely.

( I’ll save the examples of things like; tracking you with drones, tracking you via cell phone, levying fines, outlawing freedom of assembly, recording your personal info when you go into a place of business, fines and  jail time for offenders, for another article)

  • The unintentional increase of firearm sales.  Up 85% in March of 2020. This had to drive the gun control advocates crazy!
  • Massive Coronavirus  bailouts. It’s estimated that the total Federal government bailout could cost the taxpayer anywhere from 3-6 trillion dollars. The debt will be passed on to your kids and your kids kids!

Why not put charts up showing the curve on these things? Why do these trends need not to be flattened? Well one of the reasons, and excuse me for thinking, it runs antithetical to the reaction they’re trying to evoke.  Namly one of fear and panic so we’ll do as they say and join “the collective”.

Here are some things that you have to dig a little to find, and that you may have to apply some critical thinking. Did you know:

  1. To date there have been 90,000 deaths attributed to the coronavirus out of a population of 332,000.000 people in the United States. That’s .024% of the population. Fun fact, according to the latest statistics, an average of more than 8,000 people die each day in the United States…from a myriad of causes! In 2017 the “flu” killed an estimated 61,000. And we have vaccines for the “flu”.
  2. According to Yahoo news, “the coronavirus global death toll surpasses 300,000”. Sounds like a lot, but is it?  There are an estimated 7.594 billion people in the world!
  3. There’s a lot of evidence circulating that the number of deaths due to Covid-19 are wrong.  A recent article stated, “Deaths have been classified as COVID-19 death even after a physician or loved ones reported otherwise. And those who died “with” COVID-19 have been included in the count with those who died “of” COVID-19.” In another article, “A Colorado man who died of alcohol poisoning had his death classified as due to the coronavirus, possibly shedding light on a skewed virus death toll in the state, according to a report on Thursday.” The list goes on!
  4. About 6.4 percent of people infected worldwide with the virus have died. ( let me put it another way; the vast majority of people who get it will not die from it! )
  5. The highest number of deaths were in age group 74 and up.
  6. Most of those who’ve died from Covid-19 were 80 plus and had underlying health conditions.
  7. Most all younger healthy people will recover if they get it and most of them will have no symptoms at all. In fact, as many as 50% of people with Covid-19 aren’t even aware they have the virus.
  8. The highest concentration of deaths have occured in nursing homes and long term care facilities.
  9. Basically there are 3 states that have the majority of deaths from Covid-19; NY, MA and NJ. In New York 66% of those who went to the hospital with complications of Covid-19 were “sheltering in place.”  This was reported by Governor Cuomo himself! And he said he was “surprised” to learn that.
  10. Two-thirds of states are sharing the address of people who tested positive with first responders. The Associated Press found at least 10 of those states share the patients’ names.
  11. The models have been for the most part wrong. While they varied wildly, the estimates were 200,000 – 2 million would die from Covid-19 in the United States.
  12. The CDC is predicting 21,462-40,097 excess deaths NOT from Covid-19 from the people sheltering in place. Most likely from those who are too scared to go to the ER because of the exaggerated risk being associated with Covid-19. Yes, fear can get you killed!
  13. Most states have a time limit on a governor’s Emergency Management Agency Act. (usually it’s from 28-30 Days). “Simply put, there is no pandemic exception to the U.S. Constitution and The Bill of Rights.” Assist Attorney General Eric Dreiband.

I submit to you that we are not hearing much about these things because the medical experts and the leaders who blindly follow their advice don’t want you to. Doctors are in the business of saving lives. They took an oath to do so.  Their concern isn’t the economy, the loss of people’s livelihoods, or what constitutional rights have to be trampled on along the way! Which begs the question, is the cure worse than the disease?

Again we are  told that the reasons for implementing all these new regulations and guidelines is to keep people safe.  Okay,  let’s apply the same logic, O’ I don’t know… say cars? An estimated 38,000 people die in traffic accidents each year. The US fatality rate from traffic accidents is 12.4%. Should we pass a law that says you can only drive on Tuesdays and Thursdays?  And should we limit everyone’s driving to no more than 20 miles from their residence?  I’ll bet we could cut that death rate in half!  So why don’t you write your governor to do something about it?  You won’t and I’ll tell you why.  Having the freedom and convenience of driving  where and when you want to is worth  the risk. I have ridden motorcycles for over 40 years.  I have two. I’ve had a couple of accidents.  Sometimes I ride without a helmet. Yes, I know the risks! I find it therapeutic and exhilarating. Have you ever seen a motorcycle parked outside of a psychiatrist’s office?  You may think I’m an idiot. That’s ok.  I’m not asking you to be an idiot. Which brings me to my next point about risk.

The main objective in life is to not do everything we can to “stay safe” and “minimise the risk”. Do we want someone else dictating to us what risks we can and cannot take? That’s called bondage! Simply put, that’s not living! That’s not freedom! But that’s exactly what’s happening with the draconian response to the coronavirus. We can’t go to restaurants, concerts, ball games, play in team sports, compete in races, go to movies, gather together at the park, go to hair and nail salons, gyms etc.  Even with the gradual reopening of the country there will be many, many, guidelines and restrictions.  Whether you are a business owner or patron the government is going to limit what you can and cannot do and how you can and cannot do it. In other words they, not you, are going  to decide what risks you can and cannot take. I’ve made the decision not to wear a mask. I’ll bet a lot of people may think that’s very selfish of me.  Well I may think it’s selfish that they want me to give up certain rights that our founding fathers conveyed upon us all.  Why should your fear limit my freedom?  If you want to order only online, not go to any public gatherings and do take out the rest of your life that’s up to you.  If I’m having a get-to-gether of more than 10 people and I invite you, you don’t have to come! By the way I just found out they cancelled all the local fireworks displays for the Fourth of July. Just let the irony of that sink in for a minute…….

In conclusion,  As far as the Borg is concerned: I will not allow myself to get spoon fed by the “state” media and  become brainwashed on what they want me to think. I’m not a carp. I will educate myself and employ critical thinking. I will question authority and demand answers to things that do not seem to make sense. I will not quietly acquiesce to “executive orders” that run contrary to the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Tyranny will not go unchecked on my watch! Too many brave Patriots have shed their blood for my freedom! I will not disrespect their sacrifice! I will not be assimilated by The Borg or anyone else!  Resistance is only futile if you give up. Question….have you been assimilated?
