Some things we hear or see should make us blush. For example, a dirty joke, nudity or a sex scene. Talk of sexual perversions. But the truth is, most often they don’t. At least not anymore. Even some Christian young people today don’t see anything wrong with watching sex scenes or listening to dirty and perverse conversations of their coworkers or peers. Some will go as far as watching pornography. Not realizing that much of what they watch on TV is pornography. They will argue, well I don’t approve of or do these things so what’s the problem?
The problem is the we’ve become desensitized and don’t even know it. “Desensitization is a psychological process by which a response is repeatedly elicited in situations where the action tendency that arises out of the emotion proves to be irrelevant.”
What happens is their mind becomes so polluted it doesn’t feel wrong anymore. At least not wrong enough not to let that garbage in. Hence they have dirty thoughts and graffic sexual images in their minds and in an unguarded moment that pollution comes out of their mouths.
This impurity tants the soul. And God has called us to purity. “Be ye holy as I am Holy.” I Peter 1:16 Further, ” Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.” II Cor 6:17.
If this is truly our intention, we will watch what we allow ourselves to see and hear. Yes, what shows we watch, what music we listen to, and whom we listen to.
We must understand that our enemy is out to control our minds. And since he’s “the prince of the power of the air”, most all social media and what we call “entertainment” is under his control.
David Heavener writes in his book, End Times Investigations (I highly recommend you read this book. It exposes many hidden things) ” Television is a form of mind control, because the strobing of the frequencies that they’re using will put in an alpha state in less than thirty seconds. It actually shuts down your ability to filter out what you watch, but it begins programing you emotively.”
Without you even realizing it, depending on what’s your watching and/or listening to, you will have certain desires you would not have otherwise, or at least not to the extent you now have.
He goes on to write, “we must understand that there is a battle for our minds, thoughts and beliefs. It is a constant war between God and Satan, good and evil. Only one force can prevail at any time, but the ultimate goal in this battle is to completely overtake one’s mind to the point of no return. This is why God calls us to guard our thoughts and avoid being conformed to the evil around us ”
Additionally, we should be continually filling our mind and meditating on the Word of God. Psalm 119:11 “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
Furthermore, since we always are thinking about something, the Bible instructs us in Phil 4:8
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
Finally, if there is pollution from the world in our mind (which all of have to some degree) ask God to cleanse and purge those things out. And you will again sense the Holy Spirit giving you a tug when something contaminating tries to enter in. You will blush again.
