On May 10th, 2023, former President Donald Trump participated in a New Hampshire CNN sponsored Town Hall.   It was meant to be a trap. A “gotcha” moment televised to over 3 million viewers. And the “moderator”, Kaitlan Collins, came loaded for bear!

Most of the questions seemed like they were more from Mrs. Collins, and they were mostly about all too familiar derogatory stories the mainstream media made infamous. She was like Chirs Wallace on steroids!  She was aggressive. However, it backfired. And it backfired badly.

Conversely, Trump appeared cool, calm, and collected.  He fielded each one of her fastballs with relative ease. Although, at one point he told her that she was a “nasty person”, which drew a gleeful bout of laughter.

The audience was mostly made up of republicans and independents. By the time it ended it was more like a mini-Trump rally than a town hall meeting meant to embarrass the former president.  The audience often cheered and clapped at his responses.  One of the questions she asked was, “when you were the president you said that it was wrong to use the debt ceiling as a bargaining chip. Now you seem to be encouraging the Republicans to use it. What changed?  He said, “I’m not the president.”

There was some footage you could only find later on social media showing what happened just after the conclusion. It showed the former president walking back and forth on the stage clapping, making a fist up in the air and pointing at supporters, mouthing, “thank you” and smiling. A familiar scene after each Trump rally.

And you know how you could tell it went badly?  The very next day the liberal talking heads were exploding.  All the CNN hosts were lamenting saying that they should have never given Trump the publicity. It was a bad idea from the start.  And it wasn’t just CNN.  It was all over mainstream media, headlines like, “Trump did nothing but lie to the American People.” “He’s a criminal who should be in jail!” Even the “ladies” (and I had to use quotes) of The View were fuming! They couldn’t figure out why CNN would host such an event.  Clearly, it wasn’t the outcome they had hoped for. I think Greg Gutfield said it best, “with Trump, when he goes into the lion’s den, it’s the lions that get nervous.”

MAGA, ya’ all! 🙂
