Did you know that we didn’t elect Joe Biden as our president? You may be thinking, exactly, he stole the election! Actually he didn’t. God installed him as the president of the United States.

Let me explain. In biblical times when the children of Israel disobeyed God and were unfaithful to him, he would allow a king of foreign nations capture his people and put them in bondage.  And unfortunately, even those who hadn’t committed this sin would suffer along with the disobedient.  Such was the case in the time of Daniel and in the time of the book of  the Judges. In Daniel 2:21(a) we read, ” He controls the course of the world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings.” NLT   Further, we read in Romans 13:1 “Everyone must submit to the governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and have been placed there by God ” NLT

Let’s fast forward to today and to the United States.  Much to our chagrin, we have a president and an administration that’s incompetent at best and evil at worst.  “When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan.”  Proverbs 29:2 NLT. I would submit to you that there is a whole lot of groaning going on right now.

Since we’ve already established that God put our current leadership in place it’s still leaves us with the question of why? Why would God allow America to be under our current leadership?

I can only postulate. But, from my studying of scripture over the past 45 years, it’s that he’s not pleased with us. We, as a nation, have been doing all we can to kick the Lord of Glory out of the country. We no longer want his ways, his rules, or his righteousness. And unfortunately those of us that truly love and serve him are suffering the consequences along with the ungodly in our country.  “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” NIV

Another thing we should do is get involved.  God has always had a man, a woman, or a group of people to stand in the gap. A deliverer  in Judges. A prophet like Nathan like in the O.T. An Apostle like Paul and the disciples like in the book of Acts. Like Abraham Lincoln early in our nation’s history. And most recently like President Donald J Trump.  Yes, they all had their human flaws, but God looks at the heart.  Abraham lied about Sarah when he said that she was his sister (only partly true). Peter denied Christ and later played the hypocrite.  Paul could be quarrelsome (dispute with Barnabas over John Mark). And Donald Trump…well there’s a lot. We’ll just leave it at that.
Point being, we need to both pray and do.  David had a pick up a few smooth stones along with exercising his faith!

So when you hear His voice, “Who shall I send?” Reply, O’ Lord, send me! If enough of us stand in the gap, humble ourselves, pray, and do what he asks us to do, perhaps he will install better leadership and heal our land.
