Everyone knows the saying, “cash is king”. In other words, if you offer cash for an item you’d probably get it cheaper. However, things are changing. There’s an increasing number of merchants now that won’t except cash.
Our local movie theater that will not accept cash. There’s a sign up in the lobby stating such. Last summer we were in downtown Greene and the ice cream shop had a sign “no cash”.
Most recently I received a text from my dentist stating that they will no longer be accepting cash as payment for their services.
If you’re like me you have some cash on hand or stashed away in a safe at your house. But what if everyone you do business with all suddenly stopped accepting cash? Well that would mean all that paper money would become worthless. Don’t think that can’t happen. Most of our transactions are done via credit/debit cards, cell phone and wire transfers. How many of you have direct deposit from your employer? Further, there are companies now putting implanted chips under the skin of a person’s wrist. It’s voluntary…for now.
Why? Call me a conspiracy theorost, but we are headed for a one world cashless society. Right now the government can’t prove how much money you have if you’ve been hiding cash in your mattress. But that’s just it. They want to know how much money you have, and what you’re spending it on. Just like those pop-up ads you get because you were looking at or bought an item online.
Cash is no longer king, but take heart, Jesus Christ is still Lord of Lords and King of Kings.
“Trust in your money and down you go! But the godly flourish like leaves in spring.” Prov 11:28 LB
