There have been an increase in mass killings in the USA over the past 20 years. The most recent being,

“19 children, 2 teachers killed in Texas elementary school shooting”

What a tragedy. An 18 year old went on a murder rampage. Now the left is calling for more gun laws.

The truth is there were actually more guns in the U.S. 150 years ago. When I went to high school over 40 years ago you’ve never heard of these type of things. In fact, if you walked through my highschool parking lot back then you’d see more than a few pickup trucks with gun racks in the rear window. And there were guns in them.

I went to a country school back in the 70’s and there were times when we actually brought rifles and shotguns on the bus. It was usually on a Friday because we were going to a friend’s house to go hunting on Saturday. The only thing the bus driver said to us was, “those better not be loaded.” We’d reply, “no ma’am, they’re not.” And guess where we kept them until the end of school? Our lockers. Yet, nobody shot anyone. The thought never crossed our minds.  We were all taught gun safety training. I took my fist Hunter Safety course when I was 12 1/2 years old. So what changed?

Simply put, society has changed. We kicked God, absolute truth and good morals out of the schools and out of our society.  Hence, these kids are lost today. There has been a successful attack on the nuclear family. Fatherless homes. Sexual confusion. The all out attack on our born gender identity.  These kids now don’t know what they are; boy, girl, gay, transexual, transgender, bisexual, or pan sexual, or whatever.  They’re told they can be whatever they feel they are. Couple that with taking away all absolutes. Everything is now relative. You have your morals, I have mine. You have your truth, I have mine.

“40% of all babies born today are born out of wedlock.” Bill O’Reilly

These kids today don’t know who they are or why they’re here. Hedonism is the best option offered. And that option is always self destructive. They’re lonely. They have no sense of purpose, no direction. And many are depressed and hopeless. They come from broken or dysfunctional homes.
Consequently, they’re open to the enemy and his demons. They buy into the enemy’s lie that they can be famous if they go do a heinous act like the one aforementioned. The end is always death, either by suicide or being killed by law enforcement.

The problem is that we don’t want to see our godlessness and the erosion of the family and our society. Yet, everyone knows that something must be done to prevent this in the future.

Remember “the war on drugs.” There is still a very bad problem with drug abuse. The laws against it aren’t working. What makes one think taking guns from law abiding citizens will stop mass killings?

Yes, we can raise the age to buy a firearm. Yes, we can implement “red flag” laws. Yes, we can do more fortify our schools. But that’s not why these things are happening and why there will always be those intent on carrying out evil. We don’t have a gun problem. We have a godlessness problem. And until we deal with that we will continue to murder and the like.
