How did Sex Toys go from an “Adult” books store to Walmart and other mainline retailers?

According to an article by The New York Times, dated, July 3, 2019 by Katie Van Suckle.

“Jamie Leventhal, the chief executive of Clio, a small company that makes devices like personal hair trimmers, got a call from a buyer he knew at Walmart.

Now, 45 years after feminists started selling vibrators by mail-order catalog, 20 after the Rabbit toy was praised on “Sex and the City” and in a moment when brands like Goop are espousing “sexual wellness” to women, Mr. Leventhal’s company has created a line of sex toys that are being stocked and sold by Walmart, the largest retailer in the United States.”

What’s amazing to me is that 1, nobody is talking about this, and 2, nobody seems to have a problem with this. Not even the church.

Well, what’s wrong with it? Let me explain. God never intended for us to meet our own sexual satisfaction. Sexual needs were meant to be enjoyed in intimacy between a husband and his wife.  In short, it is a perversion. Further, the fact that few seem to be perfectly fine with it, is a sign of moral decadency. It is part of our preoccupation and worship of sex in society. It’s nothing new. The Greeks worshiped the goddess Diana. The goddess of sex.

In essence, what we’re saying is, I don’t need a man or a woman to satisfy my sexual needs, I can do it myself.  What’s disturbing is these “toys” were first marketed to women. What I mean by that is in Genius 3:16, “Thy desire shall be to thy husband.”  Yes it is part of God’s curse after the fall of man, but from then on that’s what God intended, but sexual perversion was never part of his plan. It is a sign of a “wicked and adulteress generation” Matt 16:4.

My daughter works in retail and part of her job is to stock the shelves with these devices. She finds it disgusting, and often pushes that task on someone else.

As a society moves further and further away from God the things once thought dirty and perverse become mainline. What’s even more disturbing to me is the fact that Christians today don’t seem to see anything wrong with these sexually self satisfying devices.

Make no mistake, God will judge the sexually immoral.  It is sex outside of marriage.  “GOD’S WORD® Translation
Marriage is honorable in every way, so husbands and wives should be faithful to each other. God will judge those who commit sexual sins, especially those who commit adultery.” HEB 13:4
